Apply the power rule:

[tex]\displaystyle\int x^3\,\mathrm dx=\dfrac{x^4}4+C[/tex]

which holds since

[tex]\dfrac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dx}\left[\dfrac{x^4}4+C\right]=\dfrac{4x^3}4+0=x^3[/tex]
