Three years after its original ruling, the court decided that forcing someone to salute the flag is similar to forcing an allegiance to united states. Indeed allegiance from citizens it's a good thing, but it shall never be forced. The court stated that forcing the students to salute the flag is a direct violation of the first amendment.
