Similar to the other works of Giotto, he puts figures and
objects in discrete locations to improve the disposition of the piece. In the
Lamentation of Christ, he improves the sorrow and misfortune in the painting by
putting objects and figures in a way that the whole thing leads to the section
of the painting where The Virgin Mary holds Jesus’s head in her arms which
makes this the focal point of the painting.
