In the average television show, men are more likely to be portrayed as problem solvers. The reason for this, is that men have been, and are for the most part still considered the head of the households, the breadwinners, the providers. This outlook on men essentially made them more knowledgeable, more worldly, more responsible, and because of that, that made them the better choice to deal with problem solving.
