4 × ( 4 + 9 ) = 2 × ( 2 + x )

4 × 13 = 2 × ( 2 + x )

2 × 2 × 13 = 2 × ( 2 + x )

2 × 26 = 2 × ( 2 + x )

Divide both sides by 2

2 × 26 ÷ 2 = 2 × ( 2 + x ) ÷ 2

26 = 2 + x

Subtract both sides 2

26 - 2 = 2 - 2 + x

x = 24
