In equation (1), x = 4+2y
Now, substitute it in equation (2),
5(4+2y)-3y = 34
20+10y-3y = 34
20+7y = 34
7y = 14
y = 2

Now, substitute in equation (1),
x-2(2) = 4
x-4 = 4
x = 4+4 = 8

So, x=8 & y=2
