What is the value of x in the equation 7x + 2y = 48 , when y = 3?

Plug in 3 for "y":

7x + 2y = 48

7x + 2(3) = 48

2*3 = 6

7x + 6 = 48 
Then, you have to subtract 6 to both sides..

7x = 42

Divide 7 to both sides and the your answer would be 6
